This scholarship was established to recognize the Weber’s for their support and commitment to the Sault Ste. Marie community. They owned and operated Weber’s Floral for over 43 years, a business Bud’s father started in 1901. Bud served on numerous boards and volunteered his time with many organizations in the community. He was the recipient of the Ambassador of Goodwill medal pin, the highest recognition received by a Lions Club member for humanitarian service and the State of Michigan’s prestigious George Romney Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteers. In 2003 the City of Sault Ste. Marie dedicated the W.F.G. “Bud” Weber Park in recognition of his lifelong service to the community. Gretchen was very active in their church and a supportive partner in her husband’s life-long community volunteer service. Recipients may major in any course of study with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrate volunteerism while pursuing their degree.
