eitrem-alanaFamily and friends established this award in memory of Alana “Chicky” Eitrem, an LSSU nursing student from 1984-86. She was a second-year pre-nursing student who was tragically killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident in 1986. Mary Jo Meehan, LSSU professor, described Alana as a “personable young woman. She made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She chose a career in nursing so that she could help others. Her kindness came through in everything she did.” Successful candidates must be a graduate of a Chippewa County high school and possess the same characteristic qualities as Alana with selection based on the recommendation of the LSSU nursing faculty.
