
The Jason Carstens Memorial First Responder Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Jason Carstens, a 2000 LSSU Fire Science graduate and dedicated first lieutenant with the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department. Created by his family, friends, and community, this scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in Fire Science, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or Paramedic programs. It reflects Jason’s commitment to service, courage, and compassion, helping future first responders follow in his footsteps. Eligible students must be full-time, have at least sophomore standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and submit a statement of intent and thank-you letter upon acceptance.
